RPG Central

The Games Shelf

Welcome to what Terminal Velocity does best... run RPGs. We are probably some of the best in the country when it comes to that, and while it might sound like tooting our own horns... Ask any of our players. Our events at our conferences are always filled and with people waiting and hoping for "no shows". We have played a wide array of games, just about every game out there from 1980-1995 has been played and probably run by one of us. Games after '95 are still very well represented, but some of the newer games just don't compare to the older games, when the games were games and the rules were just "guidelines".

Now, I'm going to lump card games in here with the RPGs. I know, I know. I can feel some of you freakin' out right now, but you're gonna have to deal with it. I'm not going to set up a whole new page just for friggin' card games. Now, I'm not talkin' about those stupid fuckin' collectable card games like Pokemon and Magic that ruined RPGs for the new generation by catering to their shortened attention spans and lack of imagination, but real card games like some of the Avalon Hill games...before they were snatched up... like Wrasslin'& Up Front just to name 2. Then you have some of the new generation that has moved away from Magic and its ilk, like Grave Robbers from Outer Space, Lunch Money, Porn Star, McGartlin Motor Sport Championship Racing, and the list goes on.

Wait... I would be remiss if I didn't include board games in our lot of games. You have the traditional games like Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit that has its place... in a few of our members hearts (because they are Jeopardy geeks), but this site is for RPG games! The real board games that we love to play are games like Heroes' Quest, Space Hulk, Mutant Chronicles, and a few others. We tend to play these when we have a lame member turn up MIA for a game session. Of course, I NEVER miss a game session... *snicker*...

These are the games that we are Masters in and we run them pretty often...Oh, I know...I didn't list any of the actual RPGs that we play. If you really want me to slim it down to the most current systems being run by our GMs: Vampire the Masquerade, Dungeons and Dragons (mostly 2nd edition), Top Secret SI, and Aces and Eights (on those very rare occurrences). What can we play? Well, we can play just about anything. A few of us are set in our ways and prefer certain systems and stick to them. I can't blame them. Some of the systems are great systems and should be used. At the moment, I'm designing a little RPG to go with the original Space Hulk game. I know... I know... some of you are hopping up and screaming about Warhammer already being a system to be used with it. Well, I'm not making a big ol' RPG with rules. I'm making a little framework game in order to make some of the Marines that go into the Hulks a little more individual and give them a slightly better chance of surviving a campaign. Much to the definition of the games we love, it is just a set of guidelines... there are NO rules.
